Progress in the garden

I hope you'll forgive me for missing a couple posts over the weekend, Bryan & I had the chance to travel to Denver for the wedding of one of my closest friends from college. It was a fantastic reunion! And now that we're home, I'll be back in the kitchen and back to crafting with lots more to share!

But this post isn't about fun in the mile-high city, it's about what kept happening at home without us. Lots and lots of growing! What a happy surprise it was to come home and see some serious progress in my container garden! I ate the first red tomato straight off the plant, and picked 2 more cukes today. When everything is ripe and ready, I'm going to have a seriously large amount of tomatoes to find a use for... maybe goal #9?
Very first red (grape) tomato

Roma Tomatoes

First eggplant!

One of my million cucumbers.

My first ever experience in gardening has been so fun and rewarding-- and the result is seriously delicious! Bryan really dislikes cucumbers from the store (because they hardly taste like anything!), but he actually enjoys the homegrown ones. And a fresh tomato off the vine is like candy! But I've also learned a lot the hard way. I'm happy to be taking notes this year so that next year I'll be able to grow more types of veggies and can take even better care of them.

What about you guys? Ever taken a stab at growing something on your own? Was it successful? Or notsomuch? I have a wilted pot of cilantro on my windowsill that can speak to my rookie gardening skills...
